Fremont, CA – January 19, 2008 – Optovue, Inc., the first company to introduce a Fourier-domain optical coherence tomography (FD-OCT) system to the US market, today announced it achieved its 2007 unit sales, revenue and profitability goals, making it one of the fastest growing companies in eye care history.

In their first full year of sales to the eye care market, Optovue announced that it installed 425 of the RTVue FD-OCT systems. Twenty five of the units were placed in clinical sites for data gathering and clinical studies, with the remaining units sold. The unit sales surpassed the goal for the year and brought the revenue number to the Fiscal 2007 goal as well. The clinical site placements are involved in studies and data collection, such as the Phase 1 Normative Database for Glaucoma and Retina, released in December of 2007. This is the first Fourier (spectral) domain OCT to have such a database.
