Course Instructors

All courses will be conducted by Dr. Larry Alexander and Michael J. Sinai, PhD.

Larry J Alexander, O.D. F.A.A.O.

Dr. Alexander is a 1971 graduate of Indiana University School of Optometry. He served in the US Navy then served as a Professor at the University of Alabama, Birmingham School of Optometry until 1994. Larry then joined a referral center practice in Louisville Kentucky and recently left practice to consult in industry. Currently Larry is the Director of Clinical Education for Optovue, Inc. Larry has contributed to a number of chapters in textbooks and has published three editions of Primary Care of the Posterior Segment, as well as contributing to the professional literature. He currently serves as a topical editor for the journal Optometry and Vision Science. Larry has also lectured extensively in the area of ocular and systemic disease. He has had a lifelong interest in lifestyle modification to minimize morbidity and mortality. His areas of special interest include dysfunctional tear syndrome, glaucoma and macular degeneration.

Michael J. Sinai, Ph.D.

Dr. Sinai is the Senior Director of Clinical Affairs for Optovue. Previously he served as the Director of Clinical Research for Laser Diagnostic Technologies and helped lead the clinical development of the GDx VCC. He was also Director of Clinical Applications for Heidelberg Engineering and helped develop and launch the HRT3. He has publications in Nature, Ophthalmology, Journal of Glaucoma, Archives of Ophthalmology, Vision Research, and others. Dr. Sinai has been a member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology since 1995, and has been a member of the Optometric Glaucoma Society since 2006.
