FREMONT, CA – FEBRUARY 12, 2015 – Optovue, a pioneer in spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT), announced that it has launched two new configurations of its iScanTM software-assisted OCT system: iScan Essential and iScan Comprehensive. The two product configurations are intended to give practitioners a choice in how they bring OCT technology into their practices.
Both iScan Essential and iScan Comprehensive were created to simplify OCT technology, thus making it accessible to a range of eye care professionals in any practice setting. iScan's software-assisted platform vocally guides the patient through the entire exam and requires minimal operator involvement. The system's compact footprint and tabletop design make it ideal for practices with space limitations.
iScan Essential is designed for practices that have traditionally offered refractive care but are interested in moving into the medical model. The system includes a wellness scan as well as two medical scans, enabling the eye care professional to elevate the comprehensive eye exam and begin building a more medically-oriented practice. The iWellness scan provides a cross-sectional view of the retinal layers, a retinal thickness map and a ganglion cell complex map. These outputs help the doctor identify early signs of disease or otherwise confirm a patient's ocular health. iScan Essential also includes reimbursable retina and optic nerve scans, both with normative comparison.
iScan Comprehensive includes the wellness scan and a complete array of retina, optic nerve and anterior segment scans, including 3D retina and optic nerve scans with en face analysis as well as pachymetry and angle measurement capabilities. The iScan Comprehensive system is designed for offices seeking to provide a broad range of medical eye care.
"OCT technology continues to evolve our understanding of the eye and the quality of care that we deliver to our patients," said Mile, Brujic, OD, FAAO, of Premier Vision Group in Bowling Green, Ohio. "iScan revolutionizes the way we think about OCT because of its ease of use and the speed of image acquisition. It makes OCT technology available to everyone, regardless of practice mode."
iScan is being introduced at a very attractive price point and the revenue generated from the iWellnessExam® and billable medical scans deliver exceptional return on investment.
